Microsoft left us with key takeaways on three important aspects: “distraction,” “explosion,” and “predictability.” What we need to see is that difficulty measures how difficult a sentence is, while distraction measures what is different about sentence structure. Furthermore, predictability indicates the probability of that upcoming sentence.
Human-generated content is generally characterized by the use of long and complex sentences as well as concise sentences. In contrast, AI-generated content tends to be homogenous. Therefore, it is essential to add a lot of suspense and excitement to the reader while already anticipating the feature you are expected to create in the future. Furthermore, the language employed must be entirely English.
Microsoft AI-powered features
Microsoft has announced a new feature in Microsoft Teams that leverages AI to eliminate background noise from meetings and calls. This is called voice isolation. This feature will make talking easier and faster in noisy areas.
Voice Isolation uses deep learning speech services, and modern audio processing technologies to detect and eliminate background noise. It also uses Vocal Profile for the sole transfer of voice.
In addition to improving voice clarity by reducing distractions and improving focus during meetings, voice isolation contributes to an efficient and productive work environment. The result, in turn, enhances collaboration and teamwork as well as access to Microsoft Teams.
The start of voice isolation is scheduled for January 2024. It will be available across desktop platforms as well as via worldwide (standard multi-tenant) cloud instances of GCC. The launch will be a gradual process that includes targeted release (select people), targeted release (whole organization), and general access.
Microsoft is planning to bring two new AI-powered features to Teams that promise to improve the quality of both the webcam and voice experiences. An upcoming “Decorate Your Background” feature scheduled in Microsoft Teams Premium in early 2024 harnesses the power of generative AI effects to clean up and eliminate background clutter in video calls.
Microsoft Teams
This feature of decoration as opposed to traditional virtual backgrounds works in real-world settings, similar to the augmented reality filters seen on platforms like Snapchat. It is able to incorporate elements such as lights, plants, and seasonal decorations into the background in front of the user. Its practical effectiveness has yet to be determined and if it works as shown in this GIF above, it could be a viable solution for hiding a messy background and moving away from artificial-looking virtual worlds.
Additionally, Microsoft plans to integrate the voice isolation feature into Teams in the coming year. It is described as a feature where Teams detect and isolate your voice to ensure that only your voice is heard in informal meetings and calls. Microsoft has clarified in an article on its blog that its AI feature will detect your voice after enrollment effectively filter out any other voices and make your voice heard in the hustle and bustle of the coffee shop.
These new features are just a part of the AI-powered functions in Teams. Microsoft is expanding the features in Copilot inside Microsoft Teams by allowing meetings that do not require transcription as well as a writing tool to compose messages and the ability to summarize meetings.
