West Virginia QB Greene’s fourth TD was a 29-yard pass in the closing minutes of the game to win 34-31 against Baylor

WACO, Texas —West Virginia player Garrett Greene threw for 269 yards and scored two touchdowns, and the game-winning touchdown of 29 yards for running back JahiemWhite who was free on the left sideline with only 23 seconds remaining following West Virginia beat Baylor 34-31 on a Saturday night.

HTML0-The Mountaineers (8-4 7-3 7-3 Big 12 Conference) were in timeouts and went down to 20 yards when Isaiah Hankins missed a 32-yard field goal with 1:44 remaining. They covered 80 yards in 51 seconds and started with two touchdowns of 11 and 23 yards for Hudson Clement.

Richard Reese returned two kickoffs to score touchdowns in the opening quarter of the opening half for Baylor (4-8 3-3) and added 17 points succession during the second quarter leading 31-27 before the field goal was missed.

The Bears have lost in their last five games and are now 13 from 16 in total. They went 1-1 at home, winning their only win coming in the record in home matches in the match against FCS participants Long Island in September. 16.

Greene was also able to rack up the three miles in the same stretch and has scored two touchdowns. White was the best performer of the Mountaineers in rushing, racking up 133 yards he rushed on 17 carries.

In the midst of Baylor first-year quarterback Blake Shapen being out with a concussion, Sawyer Robertson completed his first 10 passes. He finished 17-19 for 219 yards. He also scored a stunning 38-yard touchdown pass to Ketron Jackson in the second quarter.

West Virginia
West Virginia

This was the first time in history that it occurred for the very first time that a Baylor player returned consecutive kickoffs and scored scoring touchdowns. The Bears have not had an occasion since Trestan Ebner’s 98-yarder in the game against Iowa State on Sept 25, 2021. It was just one year after his two returns scoring against Kansas the kickoff returned 100 yards, as was an 83-yard scoring from a free kick that he took following injuries.

The main takeaway from West Virginia

West Virginia: The Mountaineers offense was held back throughout the second half and they were able to punt on the opening three possessions but were held in the 4th. However, the Mountaineers were able to get through on the last move of the drive.

Baylor Bears Bears may have had it quite easy to let the Bears crumble and not be a huge matter, considering the rumors about fourth-year coach Dave’s status and the lack of bowl games, and being in the presence of a tiny crowd in a dark evening. They battled for a while, and issues such as the blow-up coverages which have been a regular issue throughout the season have resulted in them losing one more game.
